The Appalachian Trail (AT) courses through 14 states, extending from its southernmost point at Springer Mountain in GA to Mount Katahdin in ME. It contains more than 2,100 miles of hiking. Many people hike portions of the trail, but only those who have completed the AT in its entirety can call themselves Thru-Hikers. The design, while an artist’s interpretation, attempts to give some relative weight to the state sizes, as well as the portions of trail that pass through them. Can you recognize the state abbreviations in the mountains?
